Decide Your Fate, One Job At A Time

The Universe, Apply Within.

Experience a vast, open-ended universe with an infinite number of adventures.  You are a freelancer Edison Trent, an intergalactic jack of all trades.

Your mission: whatever you want. Become a smuggler or a ruthless space thug, a naval hero or a trader. Dodge through asteroid fields while piloting elite fighters. The action is endless as you make your way through 48 known star systems. Greed, morality, compassion, anger...whatever motivates you, the dynamic universe will respond.

Take the first step. The universe is waiting.

Open Ended Universe
The Universe is open for exploration. The game evolves based on the decision you make. More than just linear combat. Commodity trading turns the gears of the universe. Mining planets churn out valuable minerals and agriculture planets cultivate grain. Find the best trade routes and profit. Political intrigue permeates almost every aspect of the game.

Dynamic Character Development
Freelancer has a major role-playing element. Your reputation constantly changes and evolves with the outcome of each mission. You can act like a bounty hunter, trader, pirate or explorer. Different ships are available based on the cultural location and player's reputation. And ships' guns, missiles, shields, etc. can be upgraded.

Fun, Mouse-driven Combat
The most fun air combat ever in the PC game. Use the mouse to master the intricacies of space combat via a simple and intuitive mouse driven interface. Point and click when planet side. Aim and fire in the cockpit. The mouse driven control will appeal to both novices and advanced gamers.

Distinctive Gamepaly styles
You choose what missions you want to fly.  cargo runs, convoy escorts, deep-space reconnaissance, "Insider Trading" or bounty hunts each deliver a unique experience for every player, every time multiplayer mode lets you join together in co-operative missions on player-hosted server worlds.

state-of- the-art Visuals
Incredible detailed graphics of the star systems, Planets, and ships. Non-playable scenes feature lifelike 3-D characters based on motion-captured movements. With simple, dynamic interface visuals you don't have to plow through pages of manuals to learn how to play.

Compelling Story Line
Play the game using random missions or through the storyline. It's a never-ending game. Players can fly an unlimited number of randomly-generated missions, even after they've finished the storyline.

  • Fictionally-rich universe – Ruthless mercenaries, fanatical pirates and greedy racketeers all battle for political power and influence. The commodities markets may turn the gears of the universe, but politics determine which gears do the turning, and how fast. The universe fiction takes an active role in defining the game experience.
  • Exploration – Explore dozens of different star systems, each with unique planets and bases.
  • Dynamic reputation – Your reputation will continually change and evolve throughout the game. You can take a bounty-hunting mission targeting a member of an enemy house, but if you're successful, they'll be looking for you! Also, as you become more and more successful, competitors will take notice.
