Subscribe and set up your QuickBooks Payroll
Subscribing unlocks the payroll features in your QuickBooks software. Once
you've subscribed, your QuickBooks software will help you with a step-by-step
guided approach to setting up your payroll process, including information
about your company, your employees' wages or salaries, their bank account
information, and your company's year-to-date payroll amounts. Enter
information only once, and QuickBooks will remember it each time you run
payroll. You can update, add, or delete information or create customizable
reports anytime.
Download the latest tax tables into QuickBooks
QuickBooks uses the Internet to check for and download the latest
federal and state tax tables. It automatically checks to see if new tax rates
are available each time you run payroll and prompts you to install them first.
Enter employees' time right into QuickBooks
You can easily enter the time for your hourly employees directly into
payroll. Or, if you track your employees' hours using the optional Time Tracker
feature in QuickBooks, it will automatically flow the employees' hours into
payroll.1 You enter salaried employees only once, and QuickBooks
remembers the salary amount each payday.
Run payroll and issue paychecks
Once you've entered your employees' hours or payroll amounts, taxes are
instantly calculated and your paychecks are ready to print from QuickBooks
anytime. Or you can use the convenient Direct Deposit feature to have
employees' pay transferred straight to their bank accounts (additional fees
apply). Your QuickBooks software automatically calculates employee earnings,
deductions, and federal and state payroll taxes. It automatically applies the
amounts to the correct accounts in your QuickBooks register and provides
customizable, detailed reports.
Easily track your liabilities
You can use QuickBooks Payroll
reports to help you pay and file your payroll taxes. Or, have your accountant
prepare them for you.
If You're an Accountant
Once your clients subscribe to QuickBooks Basic Payroll, they can send you their
QuickBooks files for you to review and adjust using your QuickBooks software. As
an accountant who has subscribed to Enhanced Payroll for Accountants, you will
be able to process federal and state payroll tax forms when working on clients'
company files so long as you are working on your own system.
