5 Reasons Why Diablo III is Set to take center stage!
Thursday, July 3rd, 2008Diablo, one of the best selling video games of all time, and 7 years after the release of Diablo II, Diablo is about to be reborn a second time. While Diablo 3’s release date is still undetermined, there have been video leaks of the game all over the internet and great fan sites which details some of the preview game play action.
Here are 5 reasons why we think Diablo III is going to blow out of the gates and take center stage:
New character classes; the Witch Doctor and Barbarian
Diablo III will have 5 character classes. Some of the old character classes are back from Diablo II, but more exciting are the two new classes. The Barbarian in Diablo III is an endangered species, having not been seen for a small period of time; however, the Witch Doctor is spanking new.
The Witch Doctor class has a special kinship with an alternate plain of existence and can tap into it with the power called “Ghost Trance.” Powers like Firebomb, Horrify, Locust Swarm, Mass Confusion, and Soul Harvest all appear to possess an otherworldly feel.
New Havok Physics graphics engine
Havok, is the leading provider of physics engines to the global game and movie entertainment industry. With the new Havok engine, Diablo III will have the ability to create on-the-fly gaming coupled with dynamic environments. Habok is also working with AMD to make sure that it’s engine works seemlessly with AMD CPU’s and GPU’s. This is a huge step up from Diablo II’s release in 2001.
DirectX 10 Support
This is really important for all you Vista users whom have already fallen in love with DirectX 10. DirectX 10 which Halo 3 is utilizing has many great features and upgrades since version 9. We are happy to see the continual acceptance of DX10.
Randomly generated worlds teamed with dynamic game play
An enhanced quest system is stated to work in conjunction with a random level generator to ensure the game provides different experiences when replayed. This means more action, and harder game play. No more memorizing each world, this brings the game play up to a whole new level.
Multiplayer functionality at Battle.net with support for cooperative and competitive play
As with Diablo II, Diablo III will have access to multi-player action at Battle.net. It will also get some extra functionality made popular from Starcraft.
