Primary Use: Personal
Pros: Easy To Navigate
Describe Yourself: Quality Oriented
I have used Quicken for twenty years, and had been completely satisfied. I bought quicken 2009 to upgrade my 2005 version.
I was disappointed with the 2009 Quicken, because I couldn't download data from my bank into my Register. So, I uninstalled it, and reinstalled my 2005.
Better than expected
By Richard from Seattle, WA on 10/2/2009
Primary Use: Personal
Pros: Basicly the same as Money
Cons: Not as nice interface
Describe Yourself: Value Oriented
I was a devoted Money user for 12 years and even worked at MSFT on the Money support team for about a year quite a while ago. I really liked the Money interface better than Quicken. I was quite dissappointed to hear of Money's planned death. My copy was to expire in October. (No more bank updates nor quotes). So, I bit the bullet and went for Quicken. I knew that any of the free stuff would not be as thorough and as Blake posted, polished.
My transition is complete and getting used to and quite comfortable with the interface and function. Actually, overall they operate very similarly and Money users should find it easy to transition.
I have found a few quirks in Quicken but we Money users are familiar with a few quirks aren't we? They are just a little different. I have read of people having difficult times converting data from Money to Quicken. I am not surprised. I think that is asking a lot to accurately convert years of data that was coded and stored by a different manufacturer. Just don't do it. I started fresh in setting up everything in Quicken and was actually pleasantly surprised at how smothly it went. If I want to check old info, I will just access Money.
A reduced price now right before the new version comes out is a great deal.
I think you all Money users will be surprised at how similar Quicken is. Good Luck!
PS
Setting up of course took a few evenings/afternoons but I think you would spend that much time as well fixing and undoing the mistakes that any conversion program would make. And, in the process, you get familiar with the program.
